The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Tuesday said that he has no other job than to develop the state and make it habitable for the residents. The governor stated this while on a tour of completed and ongoing projects in the state capital as part of activities to mark his first anniversary. He said that his dream and hope are to see Edo develop to a level where all residents in the state enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Okpebholo stated that he was in the saddle to work for the people of Edo and would put in his best to ensure the state becomes beautiful. Okpebholo inspected the Adesuwa Junction flyover, the 32-kilometre Benin–Sapele Highway, the completed Army Day Secondary School, internal roads in Ogheghe Community, the 23-kilometre Old Benin–Sapele Highway, the construction of Oba Erediauwa Road, the construction of Ekiuwa–Ugbowo Road, among others.
At the Army Day Secondary School, Governor Okpebholo said he would ensure all the classrooms are connected to off-grid solar power, as well as provide adequate security. Addressing journalists, he said, “As you can see, we are working, and the money does not come from my pocket.
“The money is given to us to work. For us, the idea is to beautify our state and make it a modern city where everybody can come and wine. “I have no other business here than to work for the Edo people, to develop the city and build new roads for our people to enjoy. That is the essence, and that is why you are seeing that we are working day and night. “When we are sleeping, we are thinking about it. When we are sleeping, we are dreaming about it. There is no other job I am here to do than to develop Edo, and that is what we are doing. That is what you have seen today.” Earlier in June, while unveiling a project, the governor promised that the state would witness more developmental projects as it has keyed into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
